About the Exhibition - Key Ingredients in Georgia
The Georgia Humanities Council is pleased to host the Smithsonian exhibition Key Ingredients: America by Food. This exhibit is part of Museum on Main Street, a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and the Federation of State Humanities Councils.
Key Ingredients tours twelve locations in Georgia from June 28, 2008 to February 10, 2010, treating visitors to a mouthwatering exploration of the connections between Americans and the foods they produce, prepare, preserve, and present at their tables.
Through a selection of artifacts, photographs, and illustrations, Key Ingredients examines the evolution of the American kitchen. The exhibit also looks beyond the home to illustrate how Americans gain a sense of community through the meals that they eat, and provides a glimpse at the traditions that merge in everyday meals and celebrations.
Each of the twelve host sites in Georgia will feature displays depicting their local and regional traditions to add local flavor to the larger national-themed exhibit. A variety of regional programs and presentations will also complement the exhibition in each location. We hope you will join us at one of 12 Georgia locations to
experience Key Ingredients:America by Food .
