Buchanan - January 2, 2010 - February 14, 2010

During the late 1800s, a group of Hungarian wine-making families settled in nearby Tallapoosa, and began producing wine; the industry was successful until the Prohibition Act of 1907 was passed.  However, today, Angie Albright has begun growing grapes in Tallapoosa, and hopes to open Speakeasy Winery in 2009.  In the Buchanan area, you’ll also find a lot of traditional Southern food, such as at Gwen’s Family Restaurant, Big Mama’s Kitchen in Waco, or at Bilbo’s Barbecue in Bremen.  During recent years, the area has also become home to several ethnic restaurants, such as Grapevine Restaurant, which serves Greek and Italian food.
